The Mini-v
Mini-v is first and foremost a laptop computer. It runs a full version of Windows XP (Mini-v S18) or Vista (Mini-v S37) operating systems software. Mini-v can handle full versions of popular Microsoft software applications such as Office, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Mini-v is a new category of mobile device that sits in between a large Tablet PC and a small PDA or UMPC. Mini-v can't really be called a UMPC, as it can operate as both a tablet and laptop PC...in effect it is a mini version of both...hence the term mini-v!
But don't be fooled, although mini-v is smaller than a laptop or tablet PC is not small on functionality, in fact Mini-v is more than capable of being your everyday computer
With the ability to run full Windows based software; Mini-v has a distinct advantage over PDA devices, which requires simpler versions of Windows O/S and reduced functionality applications. Also, as Mini-v has a real QWERTY keyboard, it has distinct advantages over UPMC devices which utilise touch screen keyboards or tablet only layouts.
With Mini-v Internet access is easy! Running Internet Explorer or other Web browsers, you can access Wi-Fi hotspots, 3G data cards or even use a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to surf the Net. Email, downloading and uploading of audio and video files, instant messaging - it's all possible with the Mini-v, which promises a fast connection wherever you go.Another helpful piece of functionality for Mini-v is GPS and navigation technology. Whether you software from Microsoft, or another provider, you can use the Mini-v to give you directions from place to place, tracking your progress on the computer as you go. Such navigation can take place via satellite*, 3G devices* or Wi-Fi protocols.
